Able: Designing apps for the modern farmer

I grew up on a farm, with a pitchfork in hand and hours of chores. Besides GPS, there was little computer technology integrated in our daily tasks. It's amazing to see how critical technology has become to sustainable farm culture, not just to make the old farming tasks easier, but to introduce it to a new generation.

I've been working with Bright Agrotech (leaders of indoor farming hardware like Zipgrow) on a series of app prototypes for both farm education and management. Below is a look into some of our progress.

We are working on 3 prototypes: Set-up, Task Collaboration, and "Ask a farmer". The Farm Set-up tool is currently being used and improved as users give feedback via Intercom.

Setting up your farm

Whether you are selling herbs at the farmers market, have a small garden at your school or rooftop, having simple tools to to set up and manage your farm can help you save money and enjoy learning how to be a farmer. Able helps you know what to buy, how much you've spent, track how successful your crop was, and learn from pages of helpful documentation and courses from UpstartU.
